Oscar Mager is a Recruiting Specialist from The Netherlands, active as contract recruiter, talent sourcer and recruiting consultant, but basically interested in all things social recruiting. He founded Recruiting Essentials, a consulting and business service that helps companies to find talent and to enhance recruiting practices, leveraging social media for recruitment and developing social recruiting strategies. Oscar spends most of his time finding talent, discovering new sourcing techniques and optimizing recruitment ROI. BeKnown Professional Networking AppA little over a week ago Monster.com introduced BeKnown, a Professional Networking App on Facebook and in a way the (long) awaited response from Monster to social recruiting using Facebook and LinkedIn. With BeKnown Monster gives users the opportunity to connect their professional network with Facebook, while at the same time separating it from their social (read non-professional) network. Facebook Face RecognitionAs we discussed at #truDublin already, this week Facebook have announced to make photo tagging easier by rolling out the Tag Suggestions feature in most countries by enabling facial recognition. With this Facebook automates the process of suggesting who of your friends might appear in Facebook photos.

ViewdlePhotos and video are the most shared content online and they can be considered as extremly powerful for networking and branding. People just love to look at pictures, it’s the killer functionality of social networks. In 2009 research from Harvard Business School has shown that seventy percent of all actions in social networks are related to viewing pictures or viewing other people’s profiles. SourcerWaar de traditionele sourcer nog wat Sherlock-achtige trekjes had, daar maken sourcers 2.0 een wat meer geeky indruk. Hun natuurlijke habitat is vooral online. Daar zijn ze aanwezig om kandidaten te vinden, maar ook om hun kennis van geavanceerde zoektechnieken en nieuwe tools met andere sourcers te delen. In het wild kom je sourcers vooral tegen op bijeenkomsten zoals SourceCon in de VS en unconferences als #truLondon. Door hun fascinatie voor technologische ontwikkelingen en gadgets zijn sourcers bijna niet van recruiters te onderscheiden. Toch zijn er verschillen. Continue reading
